Happy and Safe Holidays!

Okay, all I want for Christmas is an end to this snow, at least until we, and the rest of the country hit even harder, can get dug out! I know there'll be more, but come on, stop for a while!

Okay, what I'm really here for is Sea of Moons, Preparations, Part 1 has been added.

Whether you have snow, ice, rain or other crap, or if you're lucky enough to just have sun:

Happy Holidays!

I'm Back Bringing a Tale with Me

Out of Touch, Out of Time is updated with Chapter Twelve.

If you're all wondering, I swear, I'm done with the beach. Okay, this is a learning process and what I learned here is what may be good on paper with no pictures does not necessarily make it good when pictures are added. No matter how much I tried to vary it, it was just two people talking on the beach, and that's exactly what it looked like. But I needed to get the information out, and this was a good time to do it.

Oh well, lesson learned: vary the location. ;)

Taking a Week Off :(

I have, by nature, an obsessive personality. I always have the best intentions of doing something reasonable and manageable, and always end up crazy overloaded before I'm done.

I find myself once again overwhelmed trying to get both stories updated each week, trying to figure out how to get a picture to look just like I want it to, and trying to learn what each pose hack is capable of. Not to mention, of course, the real world needing my attention now and then. :D

Too often, I get the picture online and look at it thinking I should have taken it from another angle, or it's just too damn dark, I really should have turned a light on; but I want to get it out on time so it's just going to have to do.

I'm sorry, but there will be no OoT, OoT or SoM update this week. I need to get myself organized and my head on straight as to where I'm going. I've actually been spending time in my play neighborhood watching the actions and motions of my Sims. I'm learning what commands do what. So hopefully I'll remember some of them and make my stories better.

Anyway, I've rambled long enough. The point I'm trying to make is this: at least for the month of December, perhaps longer, SoM and OoT, OoT will be posting alternating weeks so I can spend more time on each update in hopes of being more satisfied with the end result.

In both cases, they will most likely now post on either Saturday or Sunday as well. Don't worry, despite my obsessive nature I also have an almost obsessive sense of responsibility and I will not leave you hanging. The stories will end. Also, I do have another Lachesis' Tales that I'm working on, and a future SoM storyline is working itself around in my head as well.

Thank you everyone for reading.

Preview of New Characters

The Sea of Moons, The Valley Part 3, Odin has updated.

Thought I'd just toss out a couple of test shots of future characters from Sea of Moons:

This is an early test of the major villains. This is not, however, the final look for them, but it is very close. Who are they? You'll just have to find out.

Who's this guy? That too remains to be seen, but you have seen him lurking around in the background.

Thanks for reading, everyone!

OoT, OoT Updates (As usual ;D)

Wow, I was really not sure I was going to make this update. In fact, it's a bit early because I didn't have it done over the weekend as I usually do. So I've posted it as soon as I completed it.

I'm a little worried about SoM, however. I don't have the next update done, I don't even have the set built yet. Yikes. Hopefully I'll get it for Friday as usual. Things are just not progressing as well as I'd like this week.

Sometimes I feel like the Sims got the joke and I missed out on it. :D

Happy Thanksgiving for those in the U.S.!

Just What are My Stories?

More people seem to be finding their way here, and that's great, welcome! But I realize that since this is just a place where my two stories come together, it would be wise to explain the differences.

They do have some things in common, such as sexual themes, some tasteful pixel semi-nudity, occasional strong language, and in some cases, violence. But since I'm not a violent person, it's seriously only when necessary within the confines of the story, and generally villain initiated.

Sea of Moons is a Fantasy story that takes place on a completely different world. Dagon exists in another galaxy where all sorts of races live in harmony, or not, and magic and technology appear equally in everyday life. The story mostly centers around the inhabitants of the Sea of Moons on the continent of Neith. The Sea of Moons consists of a series of islands where refugees from all over Neith have started to gather to make a new life for themselves. For the most part, the storylines center around Kerrin Draonight and Lessa Orrissus, Nanda Ves'ton, Telaan Torus and Xavier Quaendis. Although there are storylines that will have a beginning, middle and end, there will be many storylines involving these characters and others from the Sea of Moons. This is a continuing story involving these people's lives.

If Fantasy is not your thing, and you like something more grounded in reality, or at least as close as I can get, then Lachesis' Tales are probably more to your liking. These are planned to be short stories, or somewhat short stories, that center around what we know and where we are. Although time travel, which is the topic of Out of Touch, Out of Time, and genetic mutation, which is the topic of Just Call it Magic (coming after OoT, OoT completes), are not everyday occurrences, they are still not in the Fantasy genre. More along the lines of romantic paranormal. And, it seems I'll never be able to leave my romance roots, as JCIM is also a romance. So I guess, if you are a hopeful romantic, then Lachesis' Tales is also for you.

Either way, I hope this makes the differences between the two sites clearer.

As always,
Thank you for reading!

The Littlest Things Can Baffle Me

Okay, I admit it, I don't know what a northern beach looks like, I don't go to the beach. I've never gotten over my aversion to the one near where I live since a friend in high school (in the 70's) had a cut get severely infected after swimming at our local beach. I understand the area is better these days, but things learned young stick.

So, when I decided to do the scene that will cover the next few chapters, I had an almost impossible time just getting started because I needed a beach. I usually, with a few exceptions, build my own buildings and lots in order to get the look I want. So after looking at the empty lot, bulldozing it and putting it back endlessly, I gave up and checked the web for a lot I could download. I admit, I didn't scour the web, but where I did look seemed to only have tropical lots available. We don't have palm trees in the north. :P

Finally, I looked at some pictures of beaches in northern states and decided, simple and sweet. So, that's what I did, simple and sweet, and it worked out fine; and Chapter 10 was added to Out of Touch, Out of Time on time (much to my relief.)

Thank you everyone for reading!

Sea of Moons Updated

The Valley Part 1 is up at Sea of Moons.

Behind the Scenes at Sea of Moons:

I just thought I'd share a small tidbit about how A Vampire's Tale came about.

(If you're not up to date on the story, there are spoilers ahead, so be aware when you read :D)

I was watching the Sims I'd already created at the Sea of Moons tell me their story when somewhere along the way, I remembered how much I love angst ridden vampires and decided to create Kerrin. When I'm creating a character, I do a character sheet where the character tells me their story in first person so I can get their "voice". I knew Kerrin's love was murdered, thus that would lead to a vampire that kept to himself and drank too much.

So, one Sunday morning I sat down to do the character sheet and by the end of the day, A Vampire's Tale was completely written. I've never done that before, or since, unfortunately. I then decided to post it at the Sims2 Community Forum in hopes that it would show people that my story exists on the web.

Spoilers from this point on

Well, it didn't take me long to realize that people actually seemed to like it (something that, I admit, always amazes me :D), but I kept telling my husband that they were going to get pissed when I killed Lassirra. It didn't seem to matter that I told the reader very little about her beyond what Kerrin believed about her, because I knew she had to die. Well, I posted her death, and I was proved correct. Immediately, my rating dropped and nearly all the comments stopped. :)

However, by then I'd decided that Lassirra was one of the best Sims I'd ever created; she was perfect for Kerrin, so I didn't really want to kill her off either. But, if she didn't die, then Kerrin had no angst, and didn't have a reason to over drink. Well, I was torn for days. Finally, I sat down and wrote what I call at the forum, Lassirra's Tale, or the Epilogue.

So there, Lassirra/Lessa was never supposed to be. But because of Kerrin's love, she lived. But I don't think I've made it too easy for him, however, he'll still have to win her love again, if he can, if she's not too scarred from her experience with Lornus; if being a seer isn't too much for her to handle.

Thank you for reading.

Lachesis

It's Wednesday, OoT, OoT Chapter Nine is Up

Chapter Nine

This time I want to point to the creator of the house I use for Cheyenne's home. It's a beautiful house, perfectly landscaped that I'm afraid I destroyed to give the appearance of a hundred plus years of decay. I've even unintentionally removed the woodwork from the parlor/living room. I hadn't planned to do that. I only noticed when I was going over the pictures already taken and uploaded that I'd picked a wall color that had no trim. Oops, I hadn't meant to remove that much of the original architecture. :P

Anyway, it's ash3sandgh0sts Stately Mansard available at Mod The Sims 2. The house really plays well, I use it for one of my main characters that lives in Anil in the Sea of Moons - there it's been allowed to remain beautiful. :) I don't always play within the Sea of Moons; but the neighborhood is set up that way, not just as a storytelling vehicle, and I do play there from time to time. I usually play to get story ideas.

You might think this picture is a sign of things to come, who knows? But, in reality, I just really liked it and couldn't use it. :D

Something Extra:

After playing Sea of Moons and its restricted non-EA format, I realized I missed the weird and stupid EA characters and places, especially since I'd gotten AL and never really saw everything available. So, I've started a play neighborhood that lets the EA characters run rampant. :D

Recently, I took the Sim I was playing to Twikkii Island for fun and while she was digging for treasure at one of the ruins this happened (the pictures are washed out because of the lightning strikes causing the screen to turn white):

I heard the clap of thunder, the scream and sizzle sound of someone getting struck by lightning and looked around and saw her. Notice the Sim sitting next to her.

I took the picture and went back to Ninia who was still digging for treasure. No more than a shovel full later, I again heard the familiar sounds of lightning striking a Sim and looked again.

Notice, this is the Sim that was sitting next to the first woman. I guess in EA's world, lightning does strike twice in the same place.

If I could have, I would have told the guy jumping in to go somewhere else. :D

Ninia finally got her hole dug, but she didn't have much luck with her project either.

Acantha, Part 2, Hidden Truths Added

Sea of Moons as usual has updated! Hidden Truths is answering a few questions that have plagued Lessa, but raising more.

I want to mention the beautiful park and the buildings you can see across the street in this update. They are from Around the Sims2, The Paris buildings. Sandy's buildings are beautiful and I knew even when I was writing this scene that those buildings would make up Acantha and that would be the fountain Lessa was sitting at.

I added the columns from Parsimonious, but everything else is Around the Sims2.

Thank you everyone for reading.

OoT, OoT Updated

Okay, Chapter Eight is up at OoT, OoT. If all goes well, this will be its regular night to update, and I'm really hoping for it to go regular. Unfortunately, I don't have next week's done yet, but that shouldn't be too terribly hard, I hope.

A little trivia, for those with the BV EP - the lady with the purple hair is Trisha Traveler :D.

Don't ask, I was manipulating using cheats. :D

Sorry About Two Posts in One Night

But, it's up! Chapter Seven at OoT, OoT is up!! Now that the story is finished, I have every hope of making the updates a bit more regular. Certainly, I hope to post sooner than once of month. At that rate, I'll never get another story up, and really, I have another romance waiting in the wings, but that's a story for another time.

You know, they really freak me out when they do that. :D

Thank you everyone for reading.

(I'm beat, I'm off...)

Wow, I've Had a Productive Week!

Okay Sea of Moons Updated: Acantha, Part 1, The Guide Sent Us was added tonight.

I've had a really good week writing-wise. Sea of Moons is definitely going to update on time through November 21 and I shouldn't have a problem keeping up with the updates.

But most important, Out of Touch, Out of Time finally has an ending! Damn, it's about time. Turns out the problem was, I wanted one ending and the characters wanted another. Of course, they won, but hey, I like it, too. And so will you, I promise, no major changes in form from beginning to end.

Finally, three pictures I didn't use in the SoM update.

As always, thank you so much everyone for reading, and commenting and Happy Halloween.

Lachesis

Sea of Moons Updated

Sea of Moons, Spirits Intervene, Part 2, The Quest has been posted today. Just to let you know, everything is running fairly smoothly at the moment, and I know for a fact that the updates will run on schedule through November 7. I don't anticipate any problems in keeping them on schedule, either. Of course, I just know that now that I've said that, everything will become a mess. :D

I was testing Kerrin's new looks in the daylight, something you'll never see. But I like the way it turned out, so I thought I'd pass it along. (If you click it, it'll expand to full size.)

Thank you everyone for reading.

New Posts at Sea of Moons

I added Spirits Intervene, Part 1 to the Sea of Moons on Friday. The quest begins, finally. :)

Good news is, I've got the next two updates online, ready to post on the next two Fridays. No, I won't post early, I need the buffer. :)

I've also added a Glossary of Terms for Sea of Moons. This was done to keep me straight as well as let you know exactly what those odd terms mean. I can't tell you how often when I'm writing I wind up going back and changing "day" to "Turning." You'd think since I made this shit up, I'd remember what I call the stuff. :)

Here's an outtake that was caused when I installed the Apartment Life patch:

Ariel is Titus and Tatiana's daughter. I guess magique comes early to Silvanus Elves. :)

Destiny, Part 4 is Up

A frigging battle, that's what it was, and I'm not sure I won even though Destiny, Part 4 is up at Sea of Moon.

I admit, I've been getting farther into Wings of Steel by Mao, and I'm finding that with time and know-how, the pictures can look great. And that's what I want. But, I'm really new to all of this. Despite the fact I've been playing the Sims since Making Magic came out for Sims 1, I only became interested in Sim Fiction in April of this year. I'm way behind everyone who's been doing this for years. Not to mention my bad habit of jumping feet first into any creative endeavor and then pulling back after a while and deciding to learn how to do it right.

So, that's where I am, learning to do it right. Only problem is, this update fought me tooth and nail, but I think I finally won. And I learned a hell of a lot along the way.

Anyway, here's an outtake (one of many) from Destiny, Part 4.

Thanks to Apartment Life, Lessa had to greet Kerrin before she'd talk to him. So, I clicked greet. I wanted a handshake for my pictures. She had other intentions. :)

Done, Done, Done and Up!

It's about time, right? Yes, Out of Touch, Out of Time Chapter Six has finally been added. Sorry about how long it's taken, but I just needed to cover the fact that Jonas would think a woman living alone was wrong. But I really didn't want him to think it was wrong. Anyway, it was a problem that I've been trying to work out for weeks, and finally hit on an answer I think works, and give good insight into Jonas' character.

He really is a good guy, you know.

Also this weekend, Sea of Moons, Destiny Part 3 was added.

Now, I just have to write the ending for Out of Touch, Out of Time and I'll be happy, happy.

Early hair choice for future Sea of Moons character

Glitches, the Bane of Sims 2

Well, I've finished writing the latest adventure for Kerrin and Lessa and the Sea of Moons. I'm really hoping to get Destiny Part 2 up this weekend. I was really hoping that with two days off from work and the weekend I could get caught up. That I'd finish writing Out of Touch, Out of Time and get that finalized and the next update up.

But, EAxis had other ideas:

Frankly, I didn't even know this statue had been added with AL until this. I spent almost two days going back to old saves trying to fix this. Finally, I just had to move Lessa and Nanda out of the Sims 2 created Duplex they were living in (future storyline), bulldoze it and move them into something else. Which, although I've tested to some degree, I'm still not completely sure the problem is fixed. This is not the first problem I've had with Apartment Life and I somehow don't think it'll be the last.

So, I'm waiting, patiently (not), for EA's patch.

Thank you everyone for reading.

Take care,
Lachesis

Edit: 9/26/08 5:06 p.m.

Yea!!! It's up. I managed to get Destiny Part 2 up today. Great, now I can spend the rest of the weekend on Out of Touch Out of Time. Fingers crossed it goes well.

A little something extra from today's update:

Good News, Bad News

Hi Everybody,

I have good news and bad news.

Good news:
For those following Sea of Moons, I've made great progress this weekend on Kerrin and Lessa's latest adventure, and have only the end to write. Great, that means I'll be able to get Destiny, Part 1 up very soon.

Bad news:
For those following Out of Touch, Out of Time. I'm afraid although I know how the story ends, it's not written. As soon as I finish Sea of Moons, I'll get the last 10% of Out of Touch, Out of Time on computer, and then I'll make sure there aren't any weird discrepancies from beginning to end. Next update is, unfortunately, contingent on that. Sorry, it shouldn't be too long, though as I have family members reading it, and they won't be happy if it takes too long. :)

Just wanted to let you know where I'm at this weekend.

Thank you for reading; hope you enjoy the stories as much as I do.

Take care,
Lachesis

Welcome!

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Fate's Ribbon!

This site is intended to be the place to check for all updates, outtakes and extras for my Sims 2 Stories Sea of Moons and Lachesis' Tales.

For once my blog will be a blog and not just a place to tell my story.

First, as I've explained at the Sea of Moons, Visions is the start of a storyline featuring Kerrin Draonight and Lessa Orrissus, but they'll be meeting other people along the way in their search for the daughter of a very important member of the Guidance of Twelve. Xavier is only one, but he is key in helping them find the missing woman. But remember, not everything in the Sea of Moons is as it appears.

Take care,
Lachesis
