My Debut Novel

After all these years, I've finally published my first novel, Forever Love.

Since the beginning of time,
the immortal Aeterni have been first-born sons.
Until now…

Cassandra Marston has lived an ordinary twenty-nine years. Except she’s telekinetic and her mother abandoned her when she was a few days old. Despite that, she was raised by loving grandparents and given a good life. She knows exactly what she wants from that life.

Cass has always looked forward to meeting the right man, falling in love and growing into a comfortable old age with him. She wants to become what her grandmother had been. A loving protector.

When immortal Keegan Fitzgerald fell from a tree at age seven in 443 BC, his breaks healed unnaturally quick and his superstitious mother believed him a child of the Sidhe who’d replaced her true son. Fear drove her to disown him and remove him from their home. For thousands of years, Keegan has taken care of no one but himself.

However, after watching Cass die and return to life, he must learn to put someone else's needs before his own. Now immortal, Cass is forced to abandon her dreams and learn to live for-freaking-ever.

But she’s not free of the unknown man who changed her. It’s imperative he’s discovered before he can recapture her, or make another woman immortal. Keegan and Cassandra must secure her safety so they can have forever. Or time will run out.

So, Who Did Kill Jocosta?

Hang on a second while I get this thought down. Yes, that should work nicely.

EA Created Mist Hollow!

I've really enjoyed using TS3 to finish Guardian's Key. Yeah, I know, the characters' features aren't as well developed, and honestly, I agree with anyone who thinks Kerrin lost some of his cute. But seriously, working with it has stirred my creative ideas around enough that I have some new short ideas brewing. I've continued to tweak with the features of the characters that will probably be around for a while in hopes of making the differences a little less noticeable. And yay for any new character that can just be cool on his or her own. ;)

Even with the excitement of a new ideas, the thought of recreating Mist Hollow, Sea of Moons, and the surrounding islands was very daunting. A project I wasn't particularly looking forward to. Then EA announced Dragon Valley, a new world from The Sims 3 Store, and I was thrilled with the idea. The reality has been wonderful. The very ideas I'd used to create Dagon - the mixture of medieval and modern, magique and technology - are alive in Dragon Valley.

Best Laid Plans...

Two more updates and Guardian's Key will be officially ended, only the Epilogue will be left to tie things up nicely. It's been an incredibly long ride - my fault I'm afraid. Hopefully, the end result will at least be satisfying if not exactly what everyone expects.

Guardian's Key Update - The Casque

With today's update, we're getting closer to the end. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get this far. The break was inexcusable. Only recently have I realized my biggest problem was that with tons of pieces of custom content and hundreds upon hundreds of poses available (even with my posebox catalog at my fingertips) I was finding storytelling to be more and more tedious every time I sat down to do it. Now I've discovered that keeping Sims 3 simple as possible, my enjoyment of the medium has returned and my hobby is a hobby once more.

This Week's GK Update

Hi! Welcome to this week's update. Kumara, what a dismal sad place stuck out in the middle of the some of the harshest terrain on Neith.

Back with More Guardian's Key

Hey all, I'm back with more Sea of Moons and Guardian Key. Zeus wanted to help me this week. He can be pretty sweet when he's not acting like the god he thinks he is.

Just so you know, I promise not to disappear again. The picture taking is coming along great - got most of the updates taken. What's taking the most time and what I'm not going to rush is editing the story. Not only do I want to give you the best pictures I can take, but I want you to have the best story I can write. I've always believed it's the story people come here for, and it's very important to me. The rough draft I put up before was full of problems. Typos, threads not fully developed, past events forgotten. Typical rough draft stuff.

So, please bear with me as I update only once a week. I'll do my best to make the wait worth it.

Yes, you're a sweet cheeks.

I've been playing TS3 for a very long time, and I'd love to share some of that, so I hope you'll read on for some screenshots I've taken from the game.

Guardian's Key - Illustrated Ending Begins

Hi!

Yup, I'm finally back to finish Guardian's Key using my Sims. I'd had every intention of doing this very thing in December, but the best laid plans will get trashed every time when ice gets in the way. Slipping on ice while cleaning off my car before Christmas gave me the gift of an external fixator, instead of a cast, to set my broken left wrist. If you don't know what that is, Google it. I'll save you the explanation. Suffice it to say, my arm made grown men cringe. :)

Anyhoo, I'm going to let Lessa and Kerrin tell you about the changes you can expect with Sea of Moons from now on. I hope they don't turn anyone off, but, frankly, there are things about TS3 I prefer over TS2 aaaannnd I really wanted to see what can be accomplished with a vanilla TS3. That, folks, means Lachesis of the posebox catalog thingy isn't using poseboxes. Makes things so much more interesting. (Lachesis)

Erm, Hi! Remember Me?

Hi, remember me? I'm the one who goes by the strange name Lachesis. You know, the one that comes and goes from here very sporadically.

Thought I'd Just Check In

I know I've been silent a long time, but before I head off today to work on my manuscript, which is still taking longer than I ever expected (I hate when characters don't see things the same way I do), I thought I'd stop by just let you all know I'm still among the living. I'm coming ever closer to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and hope to get the first draft finished very soon.

In the meantime, thank you everyone who has started or is continuing to read my stories. It's always wonderful to me when I see someone just starting out with A Vampire's Tale. I hope you enjoy the journey. For those who've been around for a long time, I hope to start putting the pictures on the end of the story soon. I'm waiting for my new computer to arrive soon - to replace my eight-year-old baby - and we'll be moving all my TS2 stuff over there. What a production that will be, wow. Maybe a new computer will make the TS2 load time a little less tedious, but I'm not getting my hopes up that far. ;)

Also, I know Guardian's Key doesn't exactly end by answering all questions. I have so many ideas for these characters, I'm really hoping I'll be able to continue with them into the future. But, unfortunately, that will depend on what happens with my manuscript - if the editor buys it - and just life in general. Also if I do sell my story, I have plans for it to be a series of books that exist in the world I've created. That could also fill in my time. But we'll see. My love for the Sea of Moons world is quite strong.

I have plans for these people, I just hope I have the ability to tell their stories either with pictures or just words.

Again, thank you all for your patience.

Happy April Fool's Day. :D

Take care,
Lachesis

The End of Guardian's Key

UPDATE: 6/9/13 - This has finally been completed properly by using The Sims 3 instead of The Sims 2. The rough draft version this page linked to has been removed. The finished, non-rough draft version can be found here.

No, no, don't panic, I'm not just walking away, I'm actually posting the end of Guardian's Key. As I mentioned in November, I have a non-Sims story that I'm working on and it has, unfortunately, proven to need more work than I at first thought.

Anyway, while I've been working away on those 80,000 words I've also been feeling badly about ignoring Guardian's Key. So, I decided that until I can get the Sims portion of the story done - the pictures taken - I'd just stick up my text file of what I have written. Granted, it's a bit rough around the edges and has some writing and grammar warts on it, but if you don't want to wait any longer, then your wait is over.

I recently noticed I'd started Guardian's Key in 2009. Never, never did I think it would take me this long to get it all posted. Seriously, it should never have taken more than a year, or a bit longer at the most.

I do have every intention of finishing the Sims portion of it as I have time. When I add a Sims version of the story, I'll be removing that text portion until it's only a Sims story.

Until I find my way back here with a finalized version of Guardian's Key: May you all walk with the Spirits.

See how it all ends, sort of...

Thank you for your patience.

Take care,
Lachesis

Guardian's Key is Back

Morana III is here. It's a lot of talking, but from this point on, it's off to rescue Kerrin and then to the hot deserts in the southern parts of Neith. No more trees. Yay! If you've never tried to move things around when you're surrounded by trees, then you're really missing something. More often than not, you'll grab a tree and move it.

I'd really hoped to get to this much sooner, but it turns out that I've recently received a request for chapters and a synopsis for my non-Sims story. Unfortunately, that story had become one story problem after another. So now, I'm digging in and fixing the problems - which really aren't very horrible on the whole. So, as you can probably guess, the editor comes first, but I have every hope of taking a break and fitting in more Guardian's Key just as often as I can.

Speaking of books, Drew, from Drew's Sim Stories, has had two novellas published and a short due out in December. Want a good paranormal read that covers time travel and vampires, then check out her author's page: Karyn Gerrard.

I hope everyone in the US had a good Thanksgiving, however you celebrate it.

Take care,
Lachesis

Morana II

I'm back with more Guardian's Key. Lessa finally tracks down her parents. They've made themselves so inaccessible that by the time she finds them she's more than ready to let loose.

Guardian's Key, Part 8 Morana, Part II

Sometimes picking which picture I want to use can be a chore. I take so few, only three to four max of each from different angles and pick the one that best depicts what I'm trying to say. There are times, however, when making the choice falls into gut feelings and then I feel bad about the ones I don't choose. So, for shits and giggles, below are two pictures that almost, but not quite made the grade.

Enjoy!

As always, thank you all for spending some time in my world.

Take care,
Lachesis

New Sea of Moons Post

Back again, sooner than expected - yeah, for me, too.

It always bothers me how non-alpha male Kerrin comes across most of the time, and how little he tends to have to do since he's a non-magique. So, I desperately wanted to give you a closer look into what makes Kerrin Draonight tick. I hope this between the parts update succeeds in showing you another side of Kerrin.

You can be sure, what happens in the darkness will forever change him. Kerrin's been living day to day for far too long, it's time for him to see he has to embrace the man he is, the good and the evil halves of his personality.

Somewhere in Neith...

Oh, and if you're interested in seeing some of my non-Sims writing, I've entered the Mills and Boon New Voices contest for the second year. Cat's Destiny. It's paranormal, and no, it's not about a cat-shifter. I didn't realize that using the heroine's name in the title would give people the wrong impression until my husband mentioned it to me.

Thank you for reading.
Take care,
Lachesis

Spirits, I Hate Summer

First the good news, or I hope the good news, I'm back with the next installment of Guardian's Key.

Second, I want to thank everyone who's still hanging in there with me. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. Also, I seem to have picked up some new readers as well, and welcome all of you, and again, thank you for your patience.

I love this story and I so want to get the rest of it to you. Things are just starting to pick up and the real fun is about to begin. I've mentioned before that this story will complete the Kerrin/Lessa trilogy that started with A Vampire's Tale. Now that we're back in Morana where it all began, the questions are soon to be answered and their story will reach its conclusion. It's not going to be an easy trip for them by any means, but no longer will either of them be unsure of what their futures hold.

I'd love to be able to promise I'll be back before months go by again, and I'm going to really try, but I can't.

Thank you all,

Take care,
Lachesis

New Guardian's Key

I pushed aside the final plotting of my non-Sims manuscript to get this out. (Although, most likely I just used this as an excuse to not get to my final plotting.)

From time to time I start writing projects that I just seem to lose my love for, but Sea of Moons has never been one. I'm really excited to get moving forward with the story. This update ends our time with Telaan and company for a while. Kerrin still needs to be found and Lessa has mysteries that must be solved before too much longer. So next time, we're off to Morana to see how Lessa, Xavier and Kerrin are doing.

If you follow Lachesis' Tales, you already know that I've removed Wake the Dead from the story lineup. As much as I absolutely love Kai and Shani and the world they live in, the story just dried up for me. I should never have put it online before it was completely written. I'm very sorry I couldn't finish it, but I realized I had nowhere for it to go. I had no idea how to finish it. And with my renewed attempts at publication and a full-time job, I just didn't have the energy to fight it into a workable story.

I want to thank everyone who followed along, read and loved the irascible Scot as much as I do. Just for you I would have loved to continue, but there was no way I was going to be able to do justice to any part of it. The story or the characters.

Okay, I seem to be dropping projects left and right here. Lachesis Presents is also going to go on permanent hiatus. After I bought Generations, I had to do something I've never had to do before - not even with Sims 2. I had to uninstall and reinstall the entire game from ground up. I removed my four pieces of cc and the mod that allows them to be use. And I deleted all my hoods and got rid of all my Sims except my self-Sim. Which means that all the families I was following at Presents no longer exist.

Since the great reinstall, I've had to delete families and restart two more times because of bugs that cause the kids to become unplayable, or they just plain disappear. The Sims 3 has become a game of frustration, and therefore I'm pretty sure Presents will just sit frozen in time for now.

I really do want to thank everyone for sticking with my giant economy-sized lags of late. I won't promise, but I'm really hoping I'm starting to get myself a bit more organized and will get back here much more often.

Until then,

Take care,
Lachesis

A New Guardian's Key

Sea of Moons, Guardian's Key, The Shadowqueen Part 7 (II) has been added. I wanted to say more, but we have thunderstorms moving in, so I'll just have to be short.

For those in the US: Happy Memorial Day - Enjoy!

Take care,
Lachesis
